Sherpa Software Kicks Off Charitable Giving For Current Fiscal Year
Sherpa to Support Wesley Spectrum Services and Washington Women’s Shelter, Among Others
Pittsburgh, PA – March 9, 2010 –Sherpa Software, a leading e-mail management, archiving, e-discovery and compliance software company, today announced it is rolling out philanthropic programs for 2010 to support Washington Women’s Shelter, an organization focused on increasing awareness of domestic violence and its effect on the community and Wesley Spectrum Services, which provides transformational support for children and families as they strive to become more independent, responsible and caring members of the community. This marks the third consecutive year that Sherpa is offering academic scholarships and mentoring services to students served by Wesley Spectrum Services across Western Pennsylvania. Sherpa’s involvement and support of Washington Women’s Shelter is entering its tenth year.
“In addition to our support of Washington Women’s Shelter and Wesley Spectrum Services, we will offer employees $500 each to donate to the charity of their choice,” said Kevin Ogrodnik, president, Sherpa Software. The stipend enables Sherpa employees to be personally involved by selecting other charitable organizations they wish to support. “We have always been very committed to giving back to the community in which we do business,” added Ogrodnik.
“We are grateful for Sherpa’s continued support of our shelter facility and the company’s provision of greatly needed items such as bathroom and kitchen upgrades, an enhanced security system, and insurance for our vans,” said Michelle Robinson-Ritter, executive director of Washington Women’s Shelter. “In addition to helping us continue our mission to provide a safe and comfortable place for those needing refuge from domestic abuse, Sherpa employees generously provided holiday gifts for shelter residents last year.”
As part of its support for Wesley Spectrum Services, Sherpa offers not only academic scholarships, but also mentoring and job interview support. The interview program, which is beginning now, consists of real-world interview scenarios conducted by Sherpa employees in a corporate setting to help graduating seniors successfully prepare for the job interview process. “We are thrilled by Sherpa’s commitment, both from a financial and time perspective, to helping children and families of Southwestern Pennsylvania that are searching for a better quality of life,” said Doug Muetzel, CEO of Wesley Spectrum Services. “We are committed to making sure children don’t slip through the cracks by providing an array of services that integrate education, mental health and family services to meet the complex needs of those we serve.”
Sherpa Software provided five $2,500 scholarships to students served by Wesley Spectrum Services in 2009 and plans to do the same in 2010. Applications are reviewed and considered based on attendance records, grades and essays. Scholarship funds can be applied to continuing education at community-based colleges or traditional four year universities. Recipients are eligible to reapply for scholarship consideration on a yearly basis, as they successfully progress through their chosen higher education programs.
