Archive Attender 3.5, China and more...

It's been a while since I posted a meaningful blog entry. I'm sorry, I guess life got in the way!! So this is my attempt at summarizing my last couple of months and hopefully bring you up to speed on the goings on at Sherpa.Up first, we now have a new, shiny release of Archive Attender for Exchange, our email archiving solution. Version 3.5 includes, in addition to a brand new, more intuitive interface, a bunch of often requested, cool features. Please checkout this newsletter article that briefly describes some of the new features. Also check out the Archive Attender product page here.
Seems like everytime we get ready for a release of Archive Attender, I leave the country; I swear I don't plan it that way! This time was partly for a vacation, visiting friends in China and then two weeks of work while spending some time with my family in India. This was my first trip to China and I have to say I was truly impressed by the cleanliness, the overall efficiency with which the country moves (who can forget the opening ceremony to the Beijing Olympics) and the cool, modern architecture, at least in the cities we visited. I have been to a few major international cities and I think Shanghai has to be one of the coolest. However, language was a HUGE problem. Even our friends who've lived in China for over two and a half years still struggle with communication. So our weak attempts, I hope, were forgiven. We found the locals eager to help but our inability to communicate in Mandarin (seriously sounds like a really hard language to learn) was a major hindrance.
And after 10 days of dysfunctional communication, it actually was a relief to land in India where in addition to English, I can at least passably speak a couple of the local languages. Although the sensory overload in India, even if I did grow up there, still gets me everytime!!
By now most of you are probably aware of our Sherpawear contest. Here are the details, in case this is the first you're hearing of it. As a Sherpa employee, although I'm not eligible to compete, here were my contributions to our Sherpawear gallery from the Great Wall!!
