Archive Attender® Takes Aim at Efficiency by Offering a Rapid, 15-Minute Installation

Sherpa Software Releases Archive Attender for Exchange Version 3.0

Pittsburgh, PA, November 1, 2006 – Sherpa Software today announced a series of product enhancements to Archive Attender for Exchange designed to reduce time and increase efficiency while still offering robust archiving functionality to companies addressing storage and compliance requirements.

Archive Attender Version 3.0 introduces a new, simplified architecture that, unlike many products, can be installed and up and running in less than fifteen minutes. This new efficiency is mainly contributed to the product’s limited reliance on Microsoft components and its ability to automatically monitor and configure settings within the operating system that previously required manual intervention to resolve. These new features, coupled with the fact that there are no additional database or hardware requirements, allows Archive Attender to operate at maximum efficiency and streamline the entire installation process.

Another major improvement in this version is an architectural shift in the product to be more mailbox-centric rather than process-centric. This shift allows Archive Attender's customers to process tasks on multiple mailboxes simultaneously. Individual indexes have also been created and maintained for each user as opposed to a single index for each archive store. These two architectural changes, along with modifications to Archive Attender’s threading architecture, dramatically improves the day-to-day processing and performance of the Archive Attender application (Sherpa Software's internal scalability testing has found the product perform over 5 times faster than previous versions).

In addition, version 3.0 provides the ability to query Active Directory, allowing administrators to further target archiving policies based on users’ membership in Active Directory groups.

“With this version of Archive Attender we paid close attention to efficiency, reliability and manageability, ” says Balaji Srinivasan, Product Developer, Sherpa Software. "Offering a simple, 15-minute install puts the time and focus of administrators on the critical issues rather than the administrative ones. Typically, deploying an archiving solution is an extremely involved process that incorporates many components. With Archive Attender 3.0, administrators can deploy an enterprise-wide archiving solution and begin securing information within minutes.”
