File Attender® Offers Desktop and Network File Archiving
Pittsburgh, PA, October 3, 2006 – Legal implications regarding attachments contained in email have become a very visible issue and many steps have been taken on the corporate level to manage these attachments properly. However, this should not be the end of the concern. If a user saves an attachment to his/her hard drive, the problem still exists but on a much larger scale leaving behind the issue of managing and securing attachments that have become permanent files.
File Attender for Notes version 6.3 specifically addresses these concerns. Using File Attender, you can archive files from a user’s hard drive or a Domino server’s hard drive to a centralized location based on criteria such as: file name, type and date. Archived files can reside on any random access storage that the user or the server can address (File server, WORM, SANS, NAS, JukeBox, etc.). Once the file is archived, a shortcut is left behind providing users a way to locate and/or open the archived files.
With File Attender in place, organizations will experience a decrease in storage requirements while having an increase in server performance by archiving files off of over-taxed servers. It also provides an easier means for legal and HR departments to search, manage and secure employee data.
“This is the next logical step for information security and archiving,” said Kevin Ogrodnik, Vice-President, Sherpa Software. “Protecting corporate knowledge is mission-critical regardless of its location within the network. File Attender picks up where email management tools leave off and addresses corporations’ concerns of sporadic, unmanageable data spread across the network. File Attender allows legal teams, human resource departments and administrators a way to secure business information while centrally controlling their files and attachments.”
