Sherpa Software Introduces File Attender® for Lotus Notes
File Management for Network and User Drives
Pittsburgh, PA, May 1, 2006 – Sherpa Software, creators of Mail Attender® and Discovery Attender® for email archiving, management, and e-discovery, has introduced a new product into their Attender® Utilities for Notes Suite designed to take management a step further by managing files on users’ hard drives and/or file servers. File Attender is a centralized file administration tool designed to assist companies in addressing issues relating to legal discovery, information security and storage management.
Whether a company is trying to remove non-business files, conducting a legal search or securing critical business information, File Attender will provide an automated means of accessing and controlling files stored on user drives and networks. Files can be located based on file age, name and/or location. Once files matching the specified criteria are found, multiple actions can be taken. Statistics on the overall environment can be collected, files can be copied to a network location for centralized management, non-business or outdated file types can be deleted to immediately recover storage or critical information can be moved from unsecured user drives to protect corporate knowledge. As legal implications regarding unmanaged content continue to escalate, companies need a way to extend their management reach to files located outside of the email system.
“Lawsuits regarding email content have become so visible that email and attachment management is now a necessary business practice. However, if a user saves an attachment to his/her hard drive, the problem still exists but on a much broader scale,” said Jeff Tujetsch, Product Manager, Sherpa Software. “After receiving numerous requests from our customers, we created File Attender to help alleviate this concern. Now, you can easily get a snapshot of what users are saving on the company computers and take necessary actions.”
