SOPHISTICATED SOFTWARE ALLOWS ADMINISTRATORS TO MONITOR AND MANAGE DATABASES
A Proactive Approach to Database Management
Pittsburgh, PA, January 1, 2003 – In organizations with widespread and unrestricted database deployment, managing the Notes infrastructure is becoming more and more complex each day. Sherpa Software Group, LP has effectively simplified this process with its database management utility – Database Attender. Database Attender is an IBM Lotus Notes infrastructure management tool designed to monitor and control database security, usage, content and deployment. When using Database Attender, administrators are provided with a centralized knowledge base for all databases within an organization, thereby reducing the total cost of ownership.Database Attender’s primary purpose is to automate facets of Notes Administration that are often overlooked and to manage irregularities within database infrastructure. In addition to routinely scanning for exception conditions, Database Attender can monitor and enforce ACL settings, audit database content and design, and track growth and usage. Administrators can also use Database Attender to enforce design standards and set restrictions on new database deployment. This provides administrators the ability to define and enforce cost-effective, enterprise-wide database infrastructure policies. These actions can be applied to all databases, a subset, or a single database.
By installing Database Attender, companies can decrease man-hours spent resolving issues, minimize hardware expenditures, reduce exposure by identifying potential lapses in database or document security, and reduce legal liability by auditing database content. These benefits provide extensive savings quickly realized beyond the initial investment.
